Plot

Kaniyan Poongundran is a private detective agent. He handles many cases and completes it successfully, which were set aside the police as tough and incomplete. However, he searches for a tough case. Meanwhile, a school boy comes with a case that his dog is dead and gives a bullet to Kaniyan that it was taken out from the dog’s body. At the same time, Leela’s husband dies in the lightning attack. Later, Kaniyan finds that the lightning is not a natural one. His case starts with a dog and continues with lightning death. Who is doing all these and why these things happened are slowly revealed.

Star Performance

Vishal has performed naturally. We could easily identify the Mysskin effect in Vishal. Unlike his usual mannerism, Vishal transformed as Mysskin said. Anu Emmanuel, the Mollywood girl, attracts not only by her looks but performance too. Prasanna assists Vishal and his performance in the climax earns him the clap sounds from the audiences. Bhagyaraj comes in a different role and we couldn’t even identify him. He had performed extremely well. Vinay would get different roles in his career, after Thupparaivaalan.

Analysis

Mysskin has designed the story interestingly well. His approach towards the suspense sequences and revealing that suspense is highly laudable. Mysskin had not just designed the characters, but we could say that he had created them, instead.

What’s There?

  • Performance of the stars is outstanding
  • The background music by Arrol pulls us and makes us travel with the story
  • Action sequences are excellent
  • Cinematography is also one of the biggest pluses in the film

What’s Not There?

  • The screenplay is a bit slow

Verdict

Thupparaivaalan is undoubtedly a highlighted movie in Vishal’s career. Although it is a slow paced film, it is a much-needed one for the script. Watch the film in theaters and it will entertain you for sure!
