Plot

The movie centers on the love story of two college-going students Aadi and Priya. Aadi is a lively and happy soul. He is poor in his studies and spends most of his time playing games with his friends. While on the other hand, Priya is a sincere student who visits temples every day and is concerned about her studies. Aadi meets his junior Priya and falls in love at first sight. He then impressed her and eventually, both became a couple. However, they started to drift apart from each other as Priya couldn’t accept the immature and irresponsible behavior of Aadi and hence they decided to take a break from their relationship. What will happen to their relationship after the break? Will this break successfully bring a change to Aadi’s demeanor? The story explores the answers to these questions.

Star Performances

The cast of this film consists mainly of Newcomers and debutants; hence, nothing much was to be expected from them. Their performances highlight their amateur nature. Tarun did a decent job with his character in this film, although at some pivotal parts of the film, his performance fails to generate the desired results. Avantika did a pleasant work as “Priya”. Her efforts were visible in her performance. But she overdid in some of the scenes in the film. Kireeti stole the show with his excellent comic timing and brilliant portrayal. He acts as a catalyst for the film. Jenny and Swaraj did a fine job. The rest of the cast supported the story of the film with their performances.

Analysis

‘Meeku Meere Maaku Meeme” is a Telugu romantic drama film directed by Hussain Sha Kiran. He tries to showcase a romantic love story with a modern touch to it while exploring the complexities of nowadays relationships. The themes of love, friendship, adulting, self-discovery, and sacrifice are significantly used in this film. The movie attempts to explore contemporary relationships through the love story of two college-going students Aadi and Priya. However, rather than trying out something different and unique, the film delivers a mundane love story. It stays on the surface and fails to explore the in-depth difficulties and complexities of modern-day relationships. The screenplay of this movie amalgamates humor and drama into a love story. It works at times but fails to maintain the momentum. This results in a disoriented narrative. The overall cinematography of this movie effectively captures the aesthetic and vibrant visuals and enhances the mood of the scenes; however, at times it feels inconsistent with the main story. The movie struggles to tackle the pacing issues. The editing of the film feels sloppy and disruptive many times. Also, some of the scenes felt unnecessary and could have been removed from the final product. The music of the film did its part. It enhances the movie-watching experience of the viewers. The background score of this film also heightens the impact of the scenes. When we talk about the performances in this film, the cast did a fine job with their characters. The chemistry between the leading actors enhances the on-screen love angle between their characters. Keerti’s performance is the highlight of this movie. It’s a treat to watch him performing comedy on-screen. The pacing issues of the movie interfere with the audience's connection with the movie’s story. The predictable climax fails to deliver to the audience’s expectations.

What’s There?

•         The comedy and humour of the film delivers to the audience’s expectations.

•         The eye pleasing cinematography is a major plus for the film.

•         The direction of the film is impactful.

What’s Not There?

•         Pacing issues in the movie makes it a slow movie.

•         The second half of the film feels sluggish.

•         Poor narrative style of the film fails to impress the audience.

•         The movie lacks in creating an emotional bond with the characters.

•         It relies heavily on clichés.

Verdict

‘Meeku Meere Maaku Meeme’ is a romantic drama film with a pinch of comedy in it. It tries to explore the struggles and difficulties of the present generation and how they deal with their everyday life. It successfully captures the essence of friendship and love but fails to sustain the same till the end of the film. Despite all its flaws, it remains a decent story for those who are looking for a light-hearted and humorous take on nowadays relationships and friendships.
