Marzi Pestonji is a well-known choreographer and dancer from India. The Indian television audience would recognize him as one of the judges from the hit TV reality show ‘Dance India Dance’ (DID). Born into the Bollywood dream city Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra, Marzi Pestonji had an inclination towards dance from a very young age. In 1993, he decided to take up in dance as a hobby and didn’t expect anything more than just a hobby. He had found his self in this hobby, and he later on decided to get enrolled in Shiamak Davar’s Institute of Performing Arts (SDIPA). He had turned out to be such an amazing student that later on he went on to be Shiamak’s assistant choreographer, working with him to choreograph for many large scale shows and events. He is presently a Senior Faculty, Director of Operations and Principal Dancer at Shiamak’s institute, SDIPA. He sought to train to keep himself ahead and to stay true to his passion.
He underwent training at Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA) in Los Angeles in the United States. Later he moved to New York and enrolled at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre’s Master Classes and also from Broadway Dance Center. His journey to seek perfection did not end there. He moved to Vancouver in Canada to undergo training from Harbour Dance Center. His career has been filled with experiences and has performed in front of great personalities and for great events and shows. He performed for the Richard Gere Foundation, and also in the presence of stars like Will Smith and former American President Bill Clinton. He was also a part of the ceremonies of the Common Wealth Games in 2010 which took place in New Delhi and at the closing ceremony of Melbourne Common Wealth Games in the year 2006.
He started his career as a reality television show judge from Zee TV’s DID Doubles and went on to be the judge of DID Lil’ Masters as well. He was famous for his shortcomings in speaking Hindi, which he is known to take very sportingly. In 2015, he was the judge for Nach Baliye season 7. He got married to Kashmira Pestonji and currently lives in Mumbai.
Jay Bhanushali is a Hindi television actor, anchor, model and dancer, who is famous for his portrayal as Neev in Kayamath, which aired on Star Plus.
He was born on 25th December 1984 and studied at BPM School in Mumbai. He took up modeling on the advice of his sister, Hetal, and has appeared in advertisements such as Lays, Rediffmail.com, Pepsi, and Motorola.
He made his television debut as Varun Bhaskar in Disney TV’s musical comedy, Dhoom Machaao Dhoom. He then shot to fame as Neev Shergill on Kayamath, appeared as Yuvraaj in Star Plus’s Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, and Yash Malhotra in Star One’s Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi, and also played the male lead role as Anuj Shrivastav in Kairi – Rishta Khatta Meetha, a soap opera aired on Colors TV.
He has hosted numerous shows, including Meethi Choori No. 1, Dance Ke Superkids, and multiple seasons of Dance India Dance. He also contested Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket, and Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao. He showcased his dancing skills in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2, where he was the 2nd Runner-Up, and Nach Baliye 5, where he came first, along with his wife, Mahii Vij.
He made his film debut in Platform No. 6 (2013), featured in Hate Story 2 (2014), and is part of the upcoming action-drama Desi Kattey.
He has won awards for Best Debut Actor, Best TV Personality (New Talent), and Best Supporting Actor.
