Asha Sarath, famous for her role in 'Kumkumapoovu', is a Malayalam serial actress hails from Perumbavoor, Ernakulam. She was born in Perumbavoor as a daughter of famous classical dancer Smt. Kalamandalam Sumathy. At a very young age, Asha was bought into the field of classical dance by her parents. She got trained in all forms of classical dance including: Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam as well. In college days, Asha always used to get prizes for her performances on classical dance. In 1992, she got first prize in All India Dance Fete held in Benares. She is married to Sarath a business entrepreneur in Dubai.
Asha Sarath acted in Tele-Serial 'Nizhalum Nilavum Parayunnathu' and bagged Kerala State Television Award for second best actress. She came to fame-dome on her role with 'Kumkumapoovu' serial, which was telecast by Asianet. On 'Kumkumapoovu', Asha acted as a mother of two and also as a Professor in a parallel college with the character role 'Professor Jayanthi'. 'Kumkumapoovu' became one of the most highly acclaimed serial that aired by Asianet in recent times.
She too acted in few movies as well after her grand success of 'Kumkumapoovu' tele-serial. She got good roles in 'Friday' as well as in 'Parvathy' which were both critically acclaimed movies. Her major outbreak in movies was with Mohanlal in Major Ravi's magnum opus project 'Karmayodha'. Recently Asha got another breakthrough role in 'Drishyam' movie as IPS officer. Her role was well accepted and she too got offer to act in same character role in 'Papanasam' with Kamal Haasan.

Asha Sarath is a trained classical dancer turned actress who mostly acts in Malayalam movies. Asha Sarath was born on November 15, 1976 at Perumbavoor, Ernakulam, Kerala, India to the Keralite parents V.S.Krishnan Kutty Nair and Kalamadalam Sumathy. Asha Sarath’s mother is a renowned classical dancer and she is the youngest sibling to two elder brothers Balagopal and Late Venugopal. Asha Sarath started her training in classical dances from her mother at a very tender age. Asha is a trained Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam and Kuchipudi. She, for the first time, came into the limelight in the year 1992 when she won All India Dance Fete held in Banaras. After winning the contest, acting offers in films and television serials came pouring in for Asha; but she choose to be selective and decided to appear in Malayalam TV serials and tele-films . Asha became famous by acting in the Malayalam tele-film Nizhalum Nilavum Parayunnathu, she played the role of Parvathy in this tele-film and it fetched her State Film Award. Another notable role in Malayalam serial/tele-film which fetched her another state film award is for the role of Jayanthi in the serial Kumkumapoovu. Asha Sarath also starred in various famous hit and popular Malayalam films such as-Friday, Karmayodha, Ardhanaari, Drishya, Angels, etc. Some of the notable Malayalam TV serials in which Asha Sarath worked and won awards and accolades are-Kumkumapoovu, Dream City, Ponnam Poovam, Jathaka Kathakal, etc. Asha Sarath is married to Sarath and they have two daughters. Presently Asha Sarath, along with her family, is settled in Dubai.
After that she featured in the Mega and ever hit serial Kumkumapoovu playing the character of Amala. Amala is the eldest daughter of Professor Jayanthi, the central character played by Asha Sharath. Amala is a selfish, arrogant and aggressive girl who is pampered since her childhood. With the entry of the central character Shalini in the serial her life turns upside down. Prasilla has Portrayed Amala very beautifully, and there was no one who could make it even better. The serial ran for 785 episodes and has bagged many awards for Best Serial, Best Actress for Asha Sharath for portraying Professor Jayanthi;, New Face of the Year for Shelly Kishore who essayed the role of Shalini and Best villain for Prasilla.
She has acted in a movie Oru Nunakkadha directed by Johnson which did not do well in the box office. She also participated as a contestant in Munch stars a reality program for Serial artists in Kairali Tv and her team Kumkumapoovu was announced the winners. Prasilla is originaly from Palakkad, Kerala, but settled in Dubai after her marriage to Jerin. The couple has a daughter named Annakutty.
