Subsequently, he acted in the Tamil drama serial, Metti Oli that was broadcasted on Sun TV. His performance in Metti Oli as the responsible father of 5 daughters was very much appreciated.
Delhi Kumar played the role of Chidambaram, the father of Dhanam, Saroja, Leela, Viji and Bhavani in Metti Oli.. He is a land broker who tries to bring his children the best way he can. The story evolves on the lives of his five daughters. Then, Delhi Kumar did the serial, ‘Tharkappu Kalai Theeratha’. Later, he acted as a male protagonist in the Tamil drama soap, ‘Mundhanai Mudichu’. He once again appeared as a father in the serial; he was the father of three daughters who get them wedded to three sons of his friend.
In 2012, Delhi Kumar also played the role of Chidambaram, the father of Santhosh and Devi, in the drama soap, Bommalattam on Sun TV. He also did an important role in Cho Ramasamy’s, Enge Brahmanan series that was aired on Jaya. Though his interest is in stage dramas, Delhi Kumar feels TV is a better option because of certain constraints in drama. He is so experienced in acting that, at times, he gives suggestions to the serial director for the good of the serial. His spontaneity and the way he emotes any role are his positive sides which attracted many fans.
Because of his fatherly image in many serials, Delhi Kumar was given a chance to perform on the big screen. He did few Tamil films like Dumm Dumm Dumm where he played as Adhi’s father in 2001 and Kannathil Muthamittal in 2002. He was also a part of the Tollywood film, Stalin in 2006. In 2010, he acted as Vaseegaran’s father in the techno-thriller film, Enthiran. In the same year, he did the film Singam and in 2013, he was still part of Singam II, a sequel to the 2010’s Singam. In 2012, he was awarded Sun Kudumbam Life Achievement Awards for his service to the industry, by Sun Network.
