Eve Arden

Eve Arden was a very famous American actress. Her original name was Eunice Quedens. She was born at Mill Valley, California, U.S. When she was a child, her parents divorced. In her childhood, she went to Catholic Boarding school. And after that, she went to Tamalpais High School. After her schooling, she joined a theater company. She began her career in theater with the Henry Duffy Stock Company. Eve Arden was married to Ned Bergen. After that, she married to an actor Brooks West. Eve and West had four children. Eve Arden made her debut with her real name in the film Song of Love in 1929. In the movie, she acted the role of a wisecracking showgirl. This picture was one of the Columbia Pictures earliest successes. Eve’s Broadway debut came in 1934. In this, her role was appreciated, and she credited as Eve Arden.

Her film career began in 1937 when she appeared in the films Oh Doctor and Stage Door. In Stage Door, she played the role of fast-talking, witty supporting character. This character gave her name and fame; she got noticed and to be a template for many of Arden’s future roles.

She gave many memorable screen roles in her films. In 1945, she did a supporting role as Joan Crawford’s in the picture Mildred Pierce. For this movie, she won the award in the category of best supporting actress. In 1939 she did the film at the Circus, in this, she also performed some acrobatics. Exhibitors voted her the sixth most promising “star of tomorrow” in 1946. Eve also worked for radio and television. Eve is acclaimed for her role as the title character of Our Miss Brooks on radio (1948-1956) and television (1952-56). From the film industry, she returned to television for two series, The Eve Arden Show, which telecasted from 1957 to 1958 and The Mother in Law from 1967 to 1969. She also did many stage show on the mid of her television and film career.

Some of her famous stage work are in Oscar Hammerstein 2 in 1939, let’s face it in 1941. She usually appeared in stage comedies after 1960. She gave up in the battle with cancer and heart disease at her home, Los Angles, California at the age of 82.
