Govind Vasantha has composed the soundtrack.

Plot

Jackson Bazaar, a small community on Poramboke land, is at risk of eviction due to the development of the National Highway. The movie follows Jackson Velayyan and his band group Jackson Bazaar Youth, who act as guardians of the Poramboke land. As the film progresses, Velayyan gets arrested for planning a protest against the land acquisition. Issues arise from this point onward.

Star Performance

Although Jackson Bazaar Youth has moments that could be perceived as forced or artificial, the excellent performances of veteran actors Indrans and Jaffer Idukki lift the overall tone. There are depictions of police brutality and Jaffer Idukki's portrayal in these scenes demonstrates his ability to capture passionate characters with intense emotions. The arrival of Indrans in the latter part of the movie adds further taste to it. He portrays a new station house officer with a sarcastic and unpredictable nature. Lukman is more of a supporting character and is there for the heroic action.

Analysis

Strong political undertones are evident in the first part of the film. Shamal Sulaiman demonstrates the system's repressive attitude most harshly by exposing land politics and the casteist mindset among administrators. The second part is not as political and traditional and instead divulges into a thriller pattern. The casting somewhat reveals the surprise ahead of time. Given the number of issues that need addressing, the film loses its focus by bringing suspense into the plot.

What's There?

● Idukki’s outstanding performance

● Lukman’s action-packed valor

● Brilliant score

What's Not There?

● Inconsistent screenplay and plotline

Verdict

With so many unresolved concerns, the makers lose their focus in the second half while attempting to bring tension into the plot. Indrans’ mysterious entry was supposed to be the critical element here. However, the suspense factor is already spoiled because we know the actor's motivations as soon as we see him. In the words of the famous director and filmmaker Christopher Nolan Christopher Nolanwears mutliple hats. He is one of >> Read More... , in storytelling, You have to be not too far behind the audience and not too ahead of them. Excessive predictability or unpredictability can frustrate the audience in the same way. This was the case in Jackson Bazaar Youth as well. “I knew that was going to happen!” It ends up being a subpar experience because the creators miss all the opportunities to explore a wide range of social issues and fail to address them adequately. The strong performances from the actors and Govind Vasantha’s intermittent bits are the only things to remember from Shamal Sulaiman’s directorial debut.
