21 Jump Street is a police crime drama. The origin of this story happened within the United States of America. Stephen J. Cannell and Patrick Hasburgh are the creators. Liam Sternberg composed the title track while Holly Robinson sang it. Peter Bernstein and Jay Gruska are the music composers. 20th Century Fox Television teamed up with LBS Communications, Stephen J. Cannell Productions, and Patrick Hasburgh Productions to finance the project. 20th Television has the distribution rights. Hasburgh, Bill Nuss, Steve Beers, and Cannell are the executive producers.

The shooting took place in Vancouver, British Columbia. It made its debut on the small screen in the year of 1987 and would run every Sunday for one hour. The premise takes us to a city named Metropolis, which resides within a state whose name is Evergreen State. Both the state and city are fictional places. It primarily revolves around a few police workers who all belong to the same headquarter. The Headquarter is eponymous.

A common trait of this men is that they look too young for their age. So much so that they could be mistaken for being in their teens. As a result, their superiors usually assign them work which involves masking selves and investigating crimes related to high schools and colleges. They keep a tab on drug trafficking and ensure that no one abuses any student. Besides drugs and student abuse, it also lay emphasis on alarming issues like AIDS, homosexuality and people's attitude towards it, casual sex and it's frequency among the teenagers, hate crimes, and alcohol-related problems.

By the end of each episode, the team would solve each case which in turn also served as a moral lesson to the viewers.
