Carrie has angered the Iraqi government after which she has been recalled from Baghdad. Her boss David Estes ( David Harewood David Harewood was born in Birmingham, England on >> Read More... ) , with her she had an extramarital affair tolerates her. Ten months later she finds that United States Marine Corps Sergeant Nicholas Brody( Damian Lewis Damian Lewis was born in St. John’s Wood in London >> Read More... ) was found by the U.S army in Afghanistan. It was believed that Brody had been killed in Iraq eight years earlier in 2003. Brody was believed to be a war hero by the rest of CIA and political establishments but Carrie doubted him to be acting as a sleeper cell for Iraq after being brainwashed by al-Quaeda chief Abu Nazir ( Navid Negahban). She starts an audio-visual surveillance of Brody’s home illegally,hoping to find him guilty. Brody faces difficulties after returning home as revealed by the surveillance.

His wife Jessica ( Morena Baccarin Morena Baccarin, whose full name is Morena Silva d >> Read More... ) who believed her husband to be dead, had developed a relationship with Captain Mike Faber ( Diego Klattenhoff). Brody’s life becomes complicated as he is unable to readjust with his family which include his wife and his children : 12-year-old Chris and 16-year-old Dana ( Morgan Saylor Bio coming soon... >> Read More... ). He behaves erratically, shooting deer and beating up a reporter. Flashbacks reveal that he had taken up Islam during his captivity and thus he prays daily in his garage which is not shown by the surveillance. Thus Carrie deciphers no evidence against Brody and the surveillance is shut down. Carrie gets frustrated and decides to continue with the surveillance all by herself. At a support group for Iraq war veteran's, Carrie met Brody where he shares that he finds difficulty in talking about the war in front of other people. In a meeting after that, they get drunk and get intimate in a parking lot.

Later they meet again after Brody’s former jailer is captured. Brody is brought to observe the interrogation where he convinces David to let him speak to the jailer. They end up fighting with the jailer spitting on Brody’s face. Later the jailer commits suicide using a razor. Carrie suspects that the razor had been given by Brody. She arranges for polygraphs for all who could access the prison but Brody passes. Brody meets Carrie at her family’s lakefront cabin after he discovers his wife’s extramarital affair. They share intimate moments. Carrie blurts the name of a tea Brody usually drinks after which Brody starts suspecting her. He finds a loaded gun in the cabin and confronts her where she admits her suspicions. Brody accepts the fact that he has changed his religion after he fell in love with Abu Nazir who was kind to him but he denies working for al -Qaeda.

In the meantime, Saul calls Carrie to inform her that the terrorist( Tom Walker) has been identified by Aileen Morgan. Tom was Brody’s scout sniper partner and was believed to be dead. Carries apologises for her suspicions but Brody turns his back after she claims her feeling for him. Brody has an encounter with the Vice President who recruits Brody to substitute the seat of a local Congressman,who has to resign due to a sex scandal. After this Brody call Abu Nazir, which reveals that he is a traitor and is working for al-Qaeda. The flashback shows that Brody taught English to Issa, Abu’s son and he had fallen in love with him. But Issa died in a U.S drone attack when Brody decided that he was to take revenge against his own country.

Brody is given a suicide vest by a local tailor on his family trip to Gettysburg. Everything is going according to plan but his unusual behaviour worries his daughter. Later, Brody reveals to CIA that Carrie had been spying on her due to which she is removed from duty. At an event where Vice President was supposed to announce his intention to run for President, Tom murders one of the Vice President’s aides and forces all dignitaries including Brody to hide in a secure bunker.

Carrie realises that Brody is working with Tom and decides to inform the CIA as well as his family, but she is arrested. Before getting arrested she had asked Dana to talk with her dad due to which she had called Brody while he was carrying out his mission when his vest malfunctioned. Brody confronts Abu Nazir. He argues to advance Nazir’s cause as a U.S Congressman and proves his loyalty towards him by killing Tom. Carrie apologises to Brody for suspecting him and is asked to stay away from him and his family. Frustrated by her failures she decides to get treated at a mental hospital where she is given electric shock therapy. She realises that Brody had met Issa but loses her only clue as she suffers from memory loss due to the anaesthesia given to her before the therapy.
