It revolves around the lives of the employees working in the fictional Atlantis Cable News (ABN). Its main lead is a man named Will McAvoy, who is the managing editor and anchor of a show called news night, which is a prime program in the Atlantic cable news channel.

His professional and personal life gets mixed up after his ex-girlfriend Mackenzie Morgan McHale joins his workplace as an executive producer. The first season of this political drama series premiered on 24 June 2012, and concluded on august 26, 2012. It had a total of ten episodes in the first season. The first season began with famous news anchor will McAvoy returning to his job after giving a speech in the Northwestern University.
