After a long journey of 48 years, the Directorate of Film Festivals has presented the 48th National Film Awards The National Film Awards gets presented every year >> Read More... . It is organized by the Ministry Of Information And Broadcasting, India. The respected President K.R. Narayanan distributed the awards. The ceremony is renowned for celebrating the best of Indian Cinema, which is worthy and has also been brilliantly directed and executed. The festival celebrates all the excellent films which have taken Indian Cinema to a higher level.

It also appreciates the efforts made by the crew for bringing out the best direction, acting, production, cinematography, music, dance, etc., for the entertainment of people. Despite making Bollywood films as the center of appreciation, it honors all the deserving films from different states and languages. National Film Award does not look at the commercial success of the movies only but acknowledges the non-commercial films which have done great under a small budget on the big screen and small screen.

This time the National Film Awards felicitated the excellent films released in 2000. The Films honored with National Award are shared in the categories of Feature films, Non-Feature Films, and Books written on Indian Cinema. National Awards aggrandize those movies which have inspired us with their great performances, and for such a considerable accord, jury members play a huge role. The organization appoints several different groups of members for determining the worthy winners. The ceremony looks at every aspect of Indian Cinema in 2000 and honored them with precious awards like Life Time Achievement Award, also known as Dadasaheb Phalke Award. For Feature Films: Golden Lotus Award (Swarna Kamal), Silver Lotus Award (Rajat Kamal), and Regional Awards. While Non- feature films category has only Golden and Silver Lotus Awards and does not have any awards in the Regional category. In the category of Best Writing on Indian Cinemas, it has only the Golden Lotus award and awards in Special Mention.
