61st National Film Awards Hindi AWARDS on YouTube Channel

The national film awards are an annual film event organised by the Directorate of Films Festival which is under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India. The 61st edition held on 3rd may 2014 to award the best films released in 2013. The Directorate of Films festival announced the invitations of nominations in January 2014. The last date for entry is 14th February 2014. The films require certification by Central Board of Film Certification to be eligible and released between 1st of January to 31st December were eligible.

Dadasaheb Phalke award one of the most prestigious film awards is presented in this ceremony. This award is to recognise the contributions in the progress of Hindi cinema by film personalities. The 2013 edition winner Gulzar is a veteran poet and lyricist. Different members of the film fraternity from different regions are going to be part of the jury. There are two committees with one being the central committee headed by former filmmaker Saeed Akhtar Mirza.

The other regional judges are selected on the basis of their respective geographic regions. There are two types of film awards in the ceremony: Golden Lotus award and Silver Lotus award. The winners in this category also receive cash prize and certificates. On the other hand, the winners of Silver Lotus win certificates but less cash prize.
