The 8th Filmfare Awards happened in year 1961 in Bombay. The renowned film director and producer, K. Asif’s masterpiece, Mughal-e-Azam won the Best Film Award, but there are many controversies since the film did not receive major awards. One of the obvious disappointments was the loss of music director Naushad’s blockbuster soundtrack of the film. Mughal-e-Azam received seven nominations including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Playback Singer, Best Music, Best Cinematography and Best Dialogue. It only won three awards including Best Film, Best Cinematography Award for R. D.
