Adhikar is a Hindi serial aired on of Zee TV. The serial tells the story of the typical Indian society women. The society here forces women to live a dictated existence irrespective of their religion. Sometimes, they don't have the privilege to decline things that hinder their social and human growth. They don't have a voice in everyday life because the male dominated society considers them as inferior and subordinate to men. Society declares the women who fight for the right of equality as the outlaw, disrespectful or obstinate. Adhikar highlights the story of such outlaw women. This serial conveys that feminism is not an anti-male stance.

It tells the story of the women through the characters namely Shama, Amita, Saba, and Meera. They are the aware and self-respecting women who find education as the key to their escape from a subordinate existence. There are male characters in the show like Abid, Khalid, and Raja Sahab, who concede the right of equal respect and equal participation to their spouses. In the story, Shahida finds out that she can never conceive a baby. Her husband, Raja Sahab has no idea about her medical condition, and Shahida wants to keep it that way as she is afraid that he might leave her if he knows the truth. However, Raja Sahab will be so depressed by the fact that they don't have children after several years of their marriage. Raja Sahab's brother, Shiraz Ali steps up to help Shahida with her situation.

After bribing the doctors, he produces a fake medical report which says that his brother is impotent. On the other side of the story, Shama is the daughter of Raja Sahab's accountant, Sabir Ali. She decides to quit her studies as her educational expenses are unbearable to her.  She used to get educational aid from Raja Sahab on a regular basis but this time, there will be a delay in paying the fees. However, her best friend, Amita saves her career by paying her fees on time. Though Amita hails from a rich family, she has her problems. Her parents are very controlling and conservative. They don't like her paying Shama's fees. They also refuse to allow her to go on a tour to Darjeeling organized by her college. Her life is like a caged bird.

Meanwhile, Raja Sahab comes to know that Shahida had lied to him, and he is not impotent. He decides to divorce Shahida and remarry to get a child. He starts the search for a potential bride and asks for Shama's hand for marriage as suggested by his lawyer, Ras Bihari. a local matchmaker, Haji bullies and threatens Shama's family to marry her off to one of his clients. Due to lack of better options, Shama marries Raja Sahab. Shahida gets hurt by this marriage and moves to the servant’s quarter in her house.

In this show, Shahida fights for her self-respect and broken marriage, Shama struggles to keep a balance between her married life and her education. However, Amita wants her parents to recognize her for her achievements. Despite their situations, they all want the society to concede women a gladly accepted, changed and redefined role.

The Story revolves around a girl named Vrinda who has been born and brought under the guidance of her single mother Shraddha; she provides her daughter (Vrinda) with every single amenity required to be the best lawyer. Vrinda is brought up in an environment full of values and ethics which later turned out to be the valued principles of her life. She is a female who knows what is right for her and in which direction she needs to work to make life better for herself and for her mother too. In turn, Shraddha is the proud mother of a daughter like Vrinda. Shraddha considers herself to be a proud mother as she has a Vrinda in her life. But destiny had some other plans for their life, as they faced their past as a nightmare when one day the man who is Vrinda’s father comes in person in front of Vrinda and both of them being unaware of that fact that they share a beautiful bond of father-daughter between them.

The story takes an all new turn when Vrinda gets to know about her father and reality attached to him. Further acknowledges that she needs to fight for her right as a daughter. Sammaan Ek Adhikaar is about the courage of a daughter that she depicts to make a way to fight for her rights, and gain legitimate respect all over again in her life which she never gets to have as a kid. Vrinda, who is an illegitimate child of a rich man, on his death bed leaves all that he had for Vrinda so, that one day she will come to know about it and will join the family as his last wish. On the other hand, Vrinda is unaware of the fact that she has a family, and a father who’s existence is unknown to her. How she set sail on a journey that has her “licit family“ who hates her and with them, she has to fight for her rights and she had to put her life to a halt. She has to live in disguise with her mother’s best friend and her very close friend Rudra who helps her in her fight for her right.

The rendezvous of destiny, where there were love and hate which balances each other out, Vrinda makes the choice of fulfilling her dead father’s last wish At the amount of failing her mother by the people she had to join as a family to complete her father’s last wish. What follows is the main part of the story. The cast of the show is a combination of stouthearted of the TV world and some of the newcomers. Upasana Shukla the lead who plays the character of Vrinda in the show to find her on identity puts her happy life at stake.

Bharat Chawda is playing the role of Rudra in the series where he is like a helping hand of Vrinda who along with her mother’s best friend helps her in the quest of fulfilling her father’s last wish and at the same time not letting to lose her happiness in the quest. Jayati Bhatia plays the role of Radharani in the series which is a member of Vrinda’s legitimate family who is one of the members who has no soft corner for Vrinda. Krunal Pandit was in acting the character of Munimji in the show.
