The show featured a middle-class family which suffered from some of the common issues from which a middle-class family is expected to be suffering. Emotions like hatred, jealousy, misunderstandings etc. were present in the family and to handle all these issues there was only one person in the family named as Ruqaiyya. She was the one who acted as the backbone of the family. So here the story starts with a lot of family drama. Ruqaiyya had a family in which she had 2 sons, a daughter, and her husband.

She didn’t have any respect for her husband as he was a pension holder and stayed at home all the time. Her daughter Hira was a spoilt girl, because of her mother she marries her cousin first and then fell in love with her new neighbor Ali who had a good salary as compared to her husband. And this was the reason she gave divorce to her first husband and marries Ali and she was supported by her mother for this. This shows how money-minded Ruqaiyya was. During this wedding, Nadia fell in love with Mohsin Ruqaiyya’s son. Nadia was Mohsin’s paternal cousin.

Now Mohsin wanted to marry Nadia but her mother didn’t want so. This is due to the reason that he was the only earner in the family and she thought if he would marry Nadia then she would have to share Mohsin’s salary with her. But then she had to agree with the marriage of her son with Nadia. But later we saw that Ruqaiyya doesn’t treat her daughter-in-law i.e. Nadia properly. But her husband didn’t utter a single word against his mother. She treated Nadia as a maid and not a family member and not even talked to her properly. Nadia was only respected by her brother-in-law Ahsan. He was the one who supported her in every condition.

This reflects the real middle-class family story that is why most of the people easily connect to this serial. Later we saw that Ruqaiyya was in tension because of her daughter as she came to know that her new son-in-law Ali was having an affair somewhere else with someone. This made her tensed for the first time in the show. This is the way in which the story of the serial Ek Tamanna Lahasil Si goes on.
