Hamari Sister Didi is a drama television series that is based on the American medical drama series, Hawthorne. It was produced by and Toni Singh under the banner of DJ’s Creative Unit. The show was aired from Monday to Saturday evenings on Sony PAL. Hamari Sister Didi started airing on September 1, 2014 and continuously running up to the present. Most of the scenes were shot extensively in Patiala.

Hamari Sister Didi serial revolves around the life of Amrita (played by ), a head nurse in the Muskaan Hospital who lost her husband, Dr. Avinash Kapoor (played by ) in a very untimely and unforeseen death. Everyone in Patiala called her as Sister Didi. Amrita continued working in the hospital because her husband believes that the duty of a doctor doesn’t just end by giving medicines and treatment; love and care should comes first and play an evenly significant role in healing a person. Her life takes a sudden turn when Dr. Karan (played by ), a friend of his husband became the new Chief of Doctors in the hospital. As he enters the hospital, he was dismayed with how the hospital functions. So, he made changes which Amrita doesn’t like. Eventually, Dr. Karan shakes up Amrita’s life but a clash of philosophy and the lingering memories of her late husband are keeping her away from accepting the fact that she can learn to love again. But what happens if Dr. Karan became close to Amrita’s children?

The story took some exciting twists and turns such as, Kushi, Amrita’s daughter, will obliviously became involved in a drug case as she supplies drug medicines to Kabir. Later in the story, Amrita will also be accused of prescribing a wrong medication to Sohanlal, a patient to the hospital. The hospital management was forced to ask Amrita to leave the hospital since all the evidence found is against her. Several medical stories that are based on social issues in India will also be seen in the show such as abortion, victim of extortion who was admitted to the hospital and more. It also shows an extraordinary relationship of a brother-in-law and sister-in-laws.

Hamari Sister Didi casts include Akla Kaushal who was later replaced by in playing the role of Mrs. Kapoor, Shivangi Verma who played as Meher, who bagged the role of Khushi and who played as Veer Dev.
