The show began after a 16 city audition round took place all over India in select cities that included 70,000 participants turning up for auditions. The show had celebrity judges making appearances for every episode like Govinda, Ganesh Hegde,Anushka Sharma etc. From kids to young dance groups, everyone performed a variety of dance forms like Bhangra, contemporary, freestyle, hip hop, classical and the like. The debut season even had many celebrities breaking into jigs on the dance floor taking a cue out of the participants. Right from the auditions till the Grand Finale the show was a dance riot. They specialized in hip hop and popping dance forms. The group’s USP was its unique moonwalking skills that garnered a lot of praise from the judges and a lot of adulation from their fans. They won the coveted IDS trophy and a cash prize of 50 lakhs. Besides the winners MJ5, the show had several other solo and group performers who provided stiff competition to the winners throughout. Some of the better groups were the Loyola Group, the Nimbuda group, O Rama dance crew, and Stage Vibe.
