Kalchakra was a television series which aired on Star Plus, which is broadcasted in 90 episodes from 19 November 2004 until August 2005. Kalchakra was a remake of the popular Mexican series "La Opala". The story in the series is about a cursed family.

Rajan Thakur (played by Mohnish Bahl Born to the late actress ‘Nutan’, Mohnish Behl is >> Read More... ) lives as a rich landowner in a village, together with his wife Rashmi (played by Nausheen Ali Sardar). They had a happy life, until the day when he goes for hunting and accidentally kills Bhola, who is the son of Kaalinga, an evil witch that casts spells and black magic. After Kaalinga found out about the death of her son, she curses Rajan that his wife will give birth to twins, and one of them will be good, and the other one will be evil. The curse becomes real when Rashmi gives birth to two girls and dies at delivery.

The entire village starts to suffer from the curse; people die, and crops get destroyed. The spirit of Rashmi appears to Rajan and asks him to separate the girls. Rajan asks his sister Meena to take one of the girls and move to the city, and she chooses to take Nisha while the other twin Tanya stays with her father. Twenty years later, Nisha still lives in the city and will have a successful career as a doctor and gets happily married.

On the other side, Tanya lives in the village with her father, and the people in the village thinks that Tanya is the evil twin. Kaalinga goes to the city to tell the truth to Nisha about the curse and her evil nature. The series was full of twist n turns and unrealistic scenes, which makes it very different and fun to watch.
