The plot revolves around the married life of Manav and Archana, along with their families, who live in Mumbai. Manav works as a mechanic and is the only one who supports his family. Although Archana is illiterate, she can take care of the housework expertly. However, no one appreciates her being, except for her mother and brother. Initially, Archana's mother wanted her to marry someone who supports her decently. Savita, Manav's mother, hides the truth about Manav's profession, so he can marry someone he loves. But this lie was discovered shortly after the wedding. Archana's mother tried to stop their marriage; unfortunately, she failed. Manav and Archana faced a lot of ups and downs in their life as a couple, but they managed to surpass them.

After four years of hurdles, Manav and Archana had Soham's son and twin daughters, namely Ovi and Tejaswini. They also adopted Sachin, Manav's nephew. As time passed by, Manav became a businessman. On the other hand, his mother tried to destroy his marriage life. Soham, the son of Manav, was abducted by Varsha and assumed to be dead. Since then, Manav blamed his wife and took their two daughters away from her. He went to a different country while Archana stayed in India and adopted Purvi, an orphan.

Pavitra Rishta leaped for 18-years. Manav lives in Canada, and Archana resides in her mother's house with her adopted daughter. But when Manav went to Mumbai for a business, he met Archana and decided to push their divorce further. Archana was oblivious that Savita forged her signature, and she was surprised when the divorce was raised. Although she still loves Manav, Sachin asks her to agree just for the sake of Shravani, his birth mother. Savita made Sachin believe that Archana is the reason why he got separated from his birth mother. Archana agreed, but Purvi managed to delay the divorce case for six months.

The story now focuses on Ovi, Purvi, and Arjun's love triangle. Arjun is the son of Digvijay Kirloskar, the ex-boss of Manav. Purvi falls for Arjun, but Arjun's father announced that Purvi and Ovi would soon get married. Savita went to Mumbai and told Manav's twin daughters that their birth mother was Archana. Soon after, Purvi and Arjun's affair was exposed, but Ovi still assumes that Arjun is in love with her, and Purvi just trapped him. Arjun was later forced to marry Ovi. It was also revealed that Savita forged Archana's signature to raise the divorce issue, and Savita told Archana that Manav wanted a divorce Eighteen years ago. Manav decided to leave Savita and patch things up with Archana and her family. Archana also found out that Vishnu is her long-lost son, Soham.

Pavitra Rishta took a generation leaped of twenty years. Manav and Archana live with their children in Canada. Sachin got married to Neena, and they have kids, namely, Gaurav and Pushti. This time, the story focuses on Ankita, the eldest daughter of Soham, who marries Naren Karmarkar. Naren is the son of Rushali and Shirish Karmarkar, who had a traumatic incident in London. He had a mental illness and thinks that Ankita is Ahana, the girl he loved in London but is now dead. Rushali wants Ankita to pretend that she is Ahana and marry Naren. Later on, Archana goes to India and meets Ankita but is oblivious to the truth, that Ankita is her granddaughter. Ankita later falls for Naren and accepts that she is Ahana. She got pregnant, and Naren was delighted about the baby. Later on, Ankita met Pari, who was soon to marry Shekhar, a friend of Naren. But Naren regained his memory and realized that Pari was the real Ahana. He refuses to believe that Ankita is his wife, and he does not remember that she is pregnant. Many twists and turns happen along the way. As the serial ends, Archana and Manav depart from their lives on the Earth and continues their sacred relationship in heaven.
