Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 was aired on Zee TV. It was aimed at bringing out the new talented face in singing throughout the world. The sponsor for this program was Hero Honda Company. The host of the season was singer Shaan. The program was aired in 1995 on Zee channel. It had auditioned 49 potential singers from all states.

However in the elimination round on audition itself, the strength of participants stood around 32 where 16 girls and 16 boys participated in equal number. Every musician had given one or two mega hits in Bollywood then in their career and became the mentor of the show. As per the rule of the singing completion, the girls and boys were taken into four ‘Gharanas’( house). Each Gharana had selected eight contestants. For instance, Aadesh Shrivastava's group was named as ‘Jai Ho Gharana’, Himesh Reshammiya's group was titled as ‘Jai Mata Di Let's Rock Gharana’.

Music composer Ismail Darbar named his group as ‘Yalgaar Gharana’ and Jatin-Lalit named his group as ‘Dum Gharana’.
