Chhote Miyaan Chapter 2 was the second season of the hit comedy show ‘Chhote Miyaan.’ The show was created and produced by Endemol India for the Viacom’s 18 channel, Colors TV. The show aired in 2009 and later on was renewed for two additional seasons. The show was first of its kind to feature kids doing stand-up comedy. The show was a stand-up comedy show with a slight element of competition. The second season featured nine contestants selected from across India who took part in gruelling auditions in various cities across the country.
After making through several rounds, various kids were selected to take part in the finals on television. The children presented various stand-up acts in each episode. The acts were presented in front of a live audience, and after their performance, the judges reviewed their performance and gave out scores. Each episode featured many acts from the children. Later, the show started elimination to find out the finalists. The finalists then competed in the Grand Final to find the winner and the best child stand-up comedian.
The show occasionally featured various celebrities in guest roles to boost the morale of the kids. The show was hosted by
Sugandha Mishra, who isa stand-up comedian herself. She, later on, became part of the hugely popular ‘
Comedy Nights With Kapil.’ The judges were
Sachin Pilgaonkar, a veteran of Hindi and Marathi film industry and
Rahul Mahajan. Sachin Pilgaonkar is known for his blockbuster comedies in Marathi and Hindi. The judges and the host were an integral part of the show who engaged in comedic exchanges with the kids but also acted as their mentors.
The judges were critical in imparting knowledge about stand-up comedy in the kids and motivating them. The style of the comedy that the show allowed was clean and simple. Since the target audience was families watching the channel, the show encouraged the kids to do the same. Also, the show avoided controversy by keeping the children away from adult asmature topics would’ve brought criticisms. The kids did stand up and drew inspirations from their daily life. From the weird chemistry between their parents to the different characters around them and also from how their life has changed by the show. The acts also included a cosplay by a contestant as a police inspector. The show also gave rise to many popular comedians of today like Saloni and Arpit Kumbhat who went on to be part of other comedy shows.
