Another Version of the Serial...

First aired in 1994 on DD National has 14 episodes and it aired again in June 2016. The name Farman is a royal house they all are living in or should I say the house that gives shelter to everyone who needs it. The story is filmed in Hyderabad, and is based on a well-known novel written by Rafia Amin “Alam Panah”. The story revolves around Aiman Shahab, a 23-year-old girl who has come to the royal house to serve as a general assistance of Badi Sarkar, who is the widow and the eldest in the house. Aiman is an orphan whose mother died when she was a little baby and father 2 years before joining the house.

She has come all the way from Bangalore where she used to live with her aunt who always loved her as her mother, and was a sister to her father. During the interview with Aiman, Badi Sarkar was skeptical of how a parent would allow a girl so young to work in a place so far, but as she gets the knowledge of Aiman being an orphan her heart melted and she then only hired her.

As a general assistance, Aiman was asked to do work for Badi Sarkar and also help Munshi Ji the accountant of the house as he doesn't know English. At first, Aiman felt alone in such a big residence but later on developed the friendship with Azar Nawab, son of Badi Sarkar and also legal heir of the property. They are joined by Badi Sarkar’s step sister and her 2 children. Step sister Tasneem has also lost her husband and Bade Nawab didn’t want her to suffer so he invited them to stay in Farman. Tasneem’s two children are Shahana, her daughter and Basharat Nawab, her son. They are shown as free-living personalities in the start of the show.

There is a portion of the land which is restricted to the people of the mansion as this Haveli is owned by Waqar Chand, who is a painter and also a younger brother of Bade Nawab. Due to his choice of occupation, he was thrown out of the house and never addressed as a family. He was a given a small space of his own in the royal lands and was prohibited in entering the main mansion. His place is off limits to everyone in the family, but Aiman being curious went down to the lake to peek a glance as whoever she asked about the person living there, no one replies or else no one knows.
