Mera Saaya is a drama serial based on the theme of middle age pregnancy. This is a story which acclaims a greater spot than daily soaps. The story revolves around a well-to-do happy going family. Saliha and Kazim have two children, Alidaan and Zahvia. Alidaan is settled while Zahvia is dating and is about to be engaged to her boyfriend. Their life is quite, peaceful and merry until something quirky happens. Saliha finds out that she is pregnant at the age of fifty.

She tries to sort things out with the help of her relative, Munni Kaka. Munni Kaka was in greater favour of revealing things to Saliha’s daughter-in-law and insists upon Saliha to do the same. Saliha’s daughter-in-law goes nausea at the news and never avoids a moment to humiliate Saliha. Heart-broken Saliha finally reveals the news to her husband who is overjoyed at the news. He advises his wife to take good care of herself and puts her at ease and pretending things to be normal.

Saliha doesn’t reveal it straight through but deep within she is ashamed of the situation. Saliha then moves up to a doctor to abort her pregnancy, but to her failure, it was already too late, and she has to carry the child to a full term. Saliha’s daughter too joins into the apace of humiliation and threatens Saliha that she would commit suicide if Saliha had a baby at this age. Unbearable tense and humiliation force Saliha to find some other way to end this pregnancy.

Thus, she heeds Munni Kaka to get her some pills so that the baby die naturally in the womb itself. The pills cause some severe damage to Saliha, and she is rushed to the hospital. As Saliha is being operated inside the Operation Theatre, (the red bulb turned on at the signboard). The daughter-in-law’s mother pulls up Saliha’s daughter to a corner and fills up her ears of the odds of having a child at this age and narrates the humiliation that the whole family would have to go through and pushes her effort to shift for a while at their house and ease up the situation.
