Ritoo Jenjani is the hand behind the makeup of the several artists playing the myriad characters. It is a mythological drama, portraying the life and adventures of the Hindu God and the father of Lord Ganesh, Shiva. It showcases diverse aspects of Lord Shiva, right from his first marriage to Devi Sati to his second marriage to Devi Parvati.

It also shows the struggles, both Devi Sati and Devi Parvati, had to endure to impress Lord Shiva and seek his approval to get married to him. Devi Sati also had to face the opposition from her father. But she overcame it. However, she dies and hence Lord Shiva, after much convincing, gets married to Lord Parvati. The show thereon chronicles the obstacles that the couple faced. It also displays the story of the numerous births that Lord Shiva had to take to kill various demons and solve the problems of Gods and men alike. The highlight of the program was the episode wherein, Devi Parvati loses her cool and transforms into Kali Ma and kills a demon named Raktabija who was notorious for abducting women.

It all starts during the genesis of creation itself when Lord Brahma shapes the universe. At this time, Adi Shakti departs from Shiva's Ardhnarishwar form which has both male and female energies. Adi Shakti then repeatedly takes birth over many lifetimes, trying to marry Shiva throughout 106 reincarnations. However, she fails each time and so Shiva retreats from the world, embracing an austere, meditative existence as an ascetic. Seeking to bring the two primordial deities together finally, Lord Brahma advises his mind- born son Daksha Prajapati to please Adi Shakti and request her to incarnate as Daksha's daughter. Following this suggestion, Adi Shakti descends as Sati, daughter of the Prajapati Daksha. Meanwhile, an incident happens where Shiva severs one of Brahma's five heads, infuriating Daksha against him. Going ahead though, Sati falls in love with Shiva and weds him finally, despite her father Daksha's strong disapproval of the match. Daksha then gravely insults his son-in-law Lord Shiva publicly at a grand fire-ritual ceremony organized by him. Devastated at the humiliation meted out to her beloved husband in her presence, Goddess Sati sacrifices herself again at the ritual altar. This fills Lord Shiva with uncontrollable fury - he directs his fierce expansion Veerbhadra to decapitate King Daksha. Much later, on the appeals from Brahma's mind-born progeny, Shiva forgives Daksha and restores him to life by replacing his severed head with that of a sacrificial goat.

Still unconsoled from the loss of Sati, Mahadev withdraws back fully into yogic meditation for many, many centuries. The primordial Adi Shakti once again takes mortal form, this time incarnating as Parvati - the cherished daughter of the benevolent Himalayan King Himavan and his devoted wife, Queen Mainavati. From early childhood, Parvati retains the awareness of her divine Shakti powers and divine purpose. She lovingly regards Lord Shiva as her husband, addressing him intimately as Mahadev. Himavan's wife Queen Mainavati understandably has deep misgivings about her young girl's unrealistic marital claims regarding Mahadev. Upon blooming into a maiden of marriageable age, Goddess Parvati repeatedly asserts to Shiva that she is in truth reincarnated Sati and already his rightful wife. Refusing to believe her words, Shiva coldly rejects the maiden's wifely affections and her touch annoys him. Though she means no harm, he curses anyone trying to unite them - incinerating Kamadeva, the Indian deity of human lust and reproduction to ashes with his annoyed gaze. Kama's wife Rati is bereft and in despair, hurling an angry retaliation curse on the innocent Parvati for causing her husband's ruin. Finally bowing to her distraught mother Mainavati's wishes, Parvati reluctantly agrees to reconsider her divine quest and instead consents to a compromising marriage with an ordinary mortal groom.

However, both she and her father Himavan eventually convince Mainavati about Parvati's true cosmic origins and supreme purpose. Thus restored in faith about her daughter's goddess-hood, Mena gives her child her blessings to accomplish her tapasya penances to please and unite with Mahadev eternally. Parvati thus undertakes incredibly rigorous, superhuman tapasya penance or focused concentration. So resilient was her loving determination that she steadfastly continued the tapasya for no less than three thousand long years! Ultimately moved by such transcending selfless devotion, Mahadev accepted Goddess Parvati as the reincarnation of his beloved wife Sati and took her long-awaited hand in marriage. Their family later expanded, being blessed with three illustrious divine children - Lord Ganesh, Lord Kartikeya, and daughter Ashok-Sundari.
