Bigg Boss Kannada 3 was broadcasted on the channel Colors Kannada from the 25th October of 2015 to the 31st of January 2016. The reality TV show, currently in its third season, began with 15 participants, with the addition of 3 wild card entries in the succeeding episodes. The show was hosted by the brilliant actor and anchor ‘
Sudeep’, who has been anchoring the show since the first season and who shall continue to do so for the upcoming five seasons as well, having been signed on for the same by Colors Kannada for a lucrative deal worth 18 crore rupees.
The winner of the third season was ‘Shruthi’, followed by
Master Anand, Rahman Haseeb and
Pooja Gandhi, in order of votes received in the finale. The usually used Bigg Boss house at Lonavala had been discarded for this season and instead of it, a new house had been constructed at the Innovative Film City of Bidadi, in Bengaluru. There is usually a new house built for each season of the show. The house is built lavishly, consisting of a big living area, a huge open kitchen, one or two big dormitory style bedrooms, two bathrooms separately outside the main house, with the addition of gym equipment, a swimming pool and a grand garden and activity area.
The house has a ‘Confession Room’ that is usually used as a means of having one-on-one conversations with the contestants in private. Sometimes it is also used to take nominations for the weekly eviction. There is no way of contacting anyone in the outside world once you enter the Bigg Boss house. This is because the contestants are not given access to any phones or TV or the internet. They do not even get any stationary or books to read or music to listen to. The directors for this season were Subramania.M and Gurudas Shenoy, with Chinmay Subraya Bhat being the writer.
The rules of the Bigg Boss house are informed individually to the participants, and they are always reminded not to break them as well. One of the big rules in the house is that participants can only speak in their native language, which is Kannada in this case. The participants cannot come and leave the house at their will. They cannot openly talk or plan the nominations. They cannot sleep during the day. Neglect of the house rules usually results in punishment, and can also lead to the direct nomination in the eviction. Also breaking a major rule without listening to repeated warnings leads to direct eviction from the house. At times a contestant with privileges for that week can also directly nominate another contestant.
