Most valuable and artistic materials in the history of man are a part of India's treasure. Mahabharatha Pathregalu is a show based on the Indian epic, Mahabharata. The show telecasts on Udaya TV. The main story revolves around the two branches of a family- the Pandavas and Kauravas, who faced each other in the Kurukshetra War, the battle for the throne of Hastinapura.

Dhritarashtra evolved to be the strongest of all the three princes. Pandu was incredibly qualified in warfare and archery, and Vidur was skilled in learning, politics, and statesmanship. With the prince grown up, it was juncture to fill up the vacant throne of Hastinapur. Dhritarashtra, the eldest of all, was avoided because of law. As per this law, it excluded an impaired person from being the king. Pandu was instead crowned. Bheeshma reconciled with Dhritarashtra's marriage to Gandhari, and Pandu's with Kunti and Madri. Pandu expanded the kingdom by conquering the surrounding regions. He later retired and went to exile in the forest, along with his two wives. A few years later, Kunti returned back to Hastinapur with her five little sons.

All the 105 princes were subsequently assigned to the care of a teacher. Kripa at first, and Drona later. At Drona's school, in Hastinapur, several other boys also studied like- Karna, son of the Suta clan, was one such boy. It was here they developed a hatred for each other. Several incidents took place, which portrayed their accumulating resentment for each other. Yudhishtra being the crown prince and his rising popularity with the citizens, was extremely unpleasant to Duryodhan, who saw himself as the lawful heir to the throne. He schemed to get rid of the Pandavas. They went into exile. Meanwhile, Arjuna was married to Draupadi through a swayamvar.

The happiness and wealth of Indraprastha and the power of the Pandavas was something that Duryodhan disliked. He asked Yudhistra for a dice game. He got his uncle, Shakuni, to play on his (Duryodhan's) behalf. Shakuni was an accomplished player. Yudhishtra risked and lost his entire wealth, his kingdom, his brothers, himself, and Draupadi, step by step. Draupadi was yanked into the dice hall. There was an attempt to undress her. Bheem lost his temper and pledged to kill each one of the Kauravas. They went into exile for 12 years. After this, they went incognito for a year. After this, when they asked for their land, Kaurava denied. This resulted in the Kurukshetra war. Arjuna selected Krishna, whereas Duryodhan selected his army. On the battlefield, Krishna explained to Arjuna the importance of one's karma, a philosophical discourse that has a separate book for it- the Bhagavad Gita.

When it ended, the Pandavas won the war. However, they lost almost everyone, including their near and dear ones. Duryodhan and all the Kauravas perished, as did all of the menfolk of Draupadi's family, including all her sons were dead. The dead Karna was disclosed to be a son of Kunti. He was born before her marriage to Pandu. Hence, he was declared as the eldest Pandava and the lawful heir to the throne. After the war, Yudhishtra was appointed the king of Indraprastha and Hastinapur. The Pandavas ruled for thirty-six years, after which they resigned in favor of Abhimanyu's son, Parikshit. The Pandavas and Draupadi proceeded onto foot to the Himalayas, aiming to live out their last days, climbing the slopes to heaven. One by one, they all fell on this final journey, and their spirits ascended towards heaven. Years later, Parikshit's son accomplished his father as king. This entire story was narrated for the first time by a disciple of Vyasa.
