Star Singer Junior is another one of the several reality music shows. It is a Malayalam show which is broadcasted on Asianet. The serial features some kids who compete to be the best musical prodigy of the state. The kids who participate in the show are between the age group of twelve and sixteen. The show directly starts from the first round. They do not show the audition clips.

Asif Kappad is one of the judges. He is a grooming judge who has the responsibility to assess the performance of the participants and help them improve their art. The two judges make their entrance by singing their popular songs. Along with the hosts, they have their group of dancers who dance with them to create an emphatic entrance.

The kids who are sitting in the corner also join in on the fun. The hosts try to fuse some fun into the air by showcasing some gags with the help of a few comedians. Each episode has a specific theme to it. Kids are supposed to practice and train to perform on the given theme. Initially, there are fourteen contestants. Each week based on their performances, they are given the points.

The person with the least number of points is eliminated. This goes on for more than two months. There are also wild card entries which extend the duration of the show by a few more weeks. The finale takes place on a grand stage with all the removed contestants coming back and performing for their friends. The judges also join the action by singing duets, and a few of their popular songs.

Star Singer Junior was completed in 2009. It had three seasons which were telecasted on Asianet. The winners were given cash prizes, and they were also given a chance to sing a song in a famous film. After a while, things calmed down, and the participants were back to living their normal lives. Star Singer Junior was sponsored by Munch. After it had been shut down, a new dance show came to replace its time slot on the channel.
