Kanmaniyae is a Tamil serial mixed with Family drama, sentiments and emotions. It was aired by Sun Television Network during the year 2009 at 12.00 PM for half an hour and received a warm response from the viewers. It is a story of a true hardship and ambitious sisters. Famous actor Ilavarasu played a pivotal role in this series which grossed more than 300 episodes.

Shilpa, played the role of a police cop who has to handle a subtle role between her profession and the family. Her performance in this serial is notorious and yielded her a good name among the audiences. Now also, people call her as Kanmaniyae Shilpa by the name of the serial.

In one situation, she has to compromise either her job or her family and how she handles and comes out of it has been portrayed well and actor ilavarasu supported her at an ease. She has to face thousands of challenges in the society being a cop lady. The visual representation and the screenplay were excellent.

The team celebrated the success of this series in a more public manner. The cast and crew pitched in to make this occasion something more special among the audiences.

The title song was sung by Chinmaye with music rendered by Prabhakar. The dialogues were by Joe George, which were sharp and sensible. The three sisters Rekha, Uma and Sree migrate to the city after promising their mother, that they will come up in life with flying colours. The struggles and hardships they face and the rest of the story was about their will power in fulfilling the promise.

The actors have played the roles with efficiency and the excellent direction by Shaji Bilal was an asset to the success of the serial. It clearly depicted the trauma and mental torture the women undergo when they face the life on their own.The serial also showed that in the society, where male dominance is still prevalent, the women can succeed and overtake, if they try hard with boldness and courage. Rajalakshmi had showed her matured acting. Especially in the scenes, where she was taken to the doctor for checking her mental imbalance, she created sympathy from the viewers.

Kanmaniye was a sought after family drama and was watched by the fans with interest and excitement.
