It is a Tamil serial which is broadcasted by the Tamil music channel, Sun Music. The serial is a prank show that is similar in execution to the highly popular English show-‘Just for Laughs Gags’, or even the Hindi serial ‘MTV Bakra’ that used to be aired on MTV India (and was hosted by Cyrus Broacha) in the sense that it involves people being pranked while an undercover, while cameras caught their reaction to being pranked. The shows’ title itself gives us an indication of its nature; it is a reference to the evergreen genre of jokes – ‘Knock knock jokes’.

The show has a very interactive format with people having the option of calling in and requesting for pranks to be played on their friends or family. The show usually involved the cast and crew of the show simply taking to the streets, where they would then prank unsuspecting people. The cast of each episode is different, and this helps in keeping the anonymity of the cast (and crew) and allows people to be fooled (this is because if the how used the same cast for every episode people would recognise them on the street, and henceforth pranking people would be for all purposes, impossible). This also protects the cast and crew from retaliation from people who think they have been insulted.

The cast of the show dresses up in various disguises such as in the costume of policemen, TV reporters, sales executives, and security personnel, while they to try to catch people off-guard. The show enjoyed mass popularity, and though some of their pranks were not in good spirit, they were never outright vicious to the victims of the prank. The show sometimes seems to lose some of its shock quotients; the show seems scripted in parts, as the expressions of shock are overly exaggerated making it look as though the people being pranked already knew about it.
