Santosham is a favorite brand of film magazine who organize their popular award show Shantosham Awards every year, usually on the eve of their birth anniversary. Following their tradition, they hosted the Santosham Film Awards 2005 on the day preceding their 3rd birth anniversary in Gatchibowli Stadium. Awards for various categories were provided to the deserving artists. Chiranjeevi and Varsha received the best Actor and Actress awards respectively for their movies Shankar Dada MBBS and Varsham respectively. The Best Film Award went to Varsham by MS Raju. Nagarjuna received the best producer award for his film Mass and Chandra and Siddardha won the Best Director award for Aa Naluguru.
Best young performer awards were bagged by
Allu Arjun, Nitin, and Prabhas for Arya,
Sri Anjaneyam, and Varsham respectively. Best First Film Hero, RP Patnaik and
Ravi Krishna for Seenu Vasanthi Laxmi and 7GBC respectively. The Best First Film Heroine award went to
Kamalinee Mukherjee for Anand. Best First Film Director awards went to Sukumar and Lawrence for Arya and Mass respectively. Suchitra Chandrabose won the Best Film Lady Director and Chandrabose for Pallakilo Pelli Koothuru. Kousalyendra Rao won the Best Film Producer award for Swarabhisekham.
Kaikala Satyanarayana was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award while
Rama Prabha was awarded the Allu Amaraka Award.
Srikanth won the Best Male Supporting Actor for Shankar Dada MBBS.
Venu Madhav won the Best Comedian award for Sye while
Pradeep Rawat won the Best Villain Award for the same movie. The great
Prabhu Deva won the Best Choreographer Award for Varsham. The Best Music Director Award went to
Devi Sri Prasad for Varsham.
Radha Krishna won the Best Male Singer and Chitra the Best Female Singer for Anand and Varsham respectively. The award function was made highly entertaining by the performances of Malikharjun, Raghu Kunch,
Ghantadi Krishna, and Malathi. The best performance of the evening was the special dance performance of Ali in Aparichitudu’s Remo Song.
The presence of Nagarjuna and Chiranjeevi was enjoyed thoroughly by the viewers. After the entire function, Nagarjuna released the anniversary edition of Santosham and handed it over to Chiranjeevi. Santosham Suresh’s first film Premiste’s vinyl poster was unveiled by both the superstars. ‘Premiste’ is the Telugu dub of Tamil Blockbuster ‘Kadal. 'Nagarjuna won 3 awards and in his speech said that he and Chiranjeevi received best producer and best actor awards respectively last year as well and that he’s happy to see the trend repeating. Chiranjeevi in his speech said that he's glad to see all the excitement of his fans and that he's looking forward to making a film with Nagarjuna as the hero.
