Ganga is very curious and an inquisitive girl. She is brave and innocently questions the age-old customs and traditions forced on women. Her questions make the people of the older generation unanswerable, and therefore she is considered a threat to the actions of the society. In the first episode, Ganga flies kites. It symbolizes freedom and success just like the kite reaching the sky. She loves to fly kites, and one such competition is held in her town where the winner will be own a brand new cycle. She wins but does not get the cycle. It upsets her, and she is determined to find reasons as to why she did not receive the gift.

Ganga is later tied a knot and loses her husband very early. She later has no option but to live in the Widow Ashram. According to the rules of the Ashram, she has to cut her hairs. Ganga is very firm on her decision of not cutting them, and Niranjan supports her with it. She has no option left but to walk out of place. Niranjan offers her to live at his house. He also introduces her to Sagar.

Ten years down the line she meets her soulmate Sagar who has just returned from London. The story moves forward with both of them fighting for their pure love towards each other against the judgemental society. Seven years pass, and she is left alone with her only hope, her daughter Krishna. Sagar is unaware of this fact that Krishna is his daughter but realizes it afterward when he wins the trust and love of Ganga again. Later she starts losing her memory and ends up living with Shiv after her husband dies.

Ganga is a river that travels all down till South India from the North. It finds its way from all the obstacles like the mountains and valleys. Gangaa symbolizes Ganga river. She characterizes innocence and an indomitable spirit. She passes through different situations and emerges as a winner.
