Pratidhwani is a Telugu language TV show that airs on the channel ETV. The show premieres on television from Monday to Friday for half an hour at 9 pm. It is a news debate that features a reporter along with a debate panel that includes experts, academics, analysts, and officials from different departments of the state. It is not a political debate where politicians from different parties get together and proverbially thrash one another. It is one that comes up with the answers to the public needs. Pratidhwani means echo. The show is given this title to denote the echo of the common man’s wails. It isn’t news that almost every street in every district has some or the other problem the government is too busy to deal with. The problems may be related to water, housing, electricity, sewage, or garbage.

Apart from these, an entire district or a few districts on the whole face some problems together, for example, Polavaram Dam Project. These problems have been left undealt with for a long time. There are many other ones we don’t even hear about. The Mayor’s office receives hundreds and hundreds of letters about the problems faced by a common man, and they are left unopened and unread. Even if they are brought up in an interview, the politicians give vague answers that we don’t even know are true. To bring light to these problems, ETV news came up with Pratidhwani. The show opens with a few pictures followed by the title of the discussion. The reporter proceeds to introduce the debate panel along with the capacity they work in.

The panel expresses their views on the given topic and what could’ve lead to the problem, ranging from political, social, economic, and cultural dimensions. Their expertise in a particular field helps them provide the truth about it and how the government could’ve dealt with it before it made the news. They all then find some common ground and come up with possible answers to the problems. Since they speak in the voices of the common man, the show was well-received and well-followed by the public.
