Nene no. 1 is a game based reality show in the Telugu language that aired on one of the most-watched prime-time channels, Zee Telugu which is the regional off-spring of the biggest broadcasting network in India, Zee Network. The show was aired in the year 2012. The show ran for just two months, from June to August, with more or less ten episodes. The first episode was telecasted on 5th June 2012 and the last episode on 31st August 2012. The show is telecasted at 9:30 p.m. IST. The show was telecasted on a weekly basis. Initially, it was aired on Tuesdays, but in the last month of the show, the day was shifted to Fridays. Each episode ran for one hour.

Nene no. 1 was a reality game show that entailed a set of fun games that had to be played to win the show and prove that they were the best. The tagline of the show says, “Zero to Hero." Each episode had three contestants who came to play the game. They all were given an amount of rupees ten thousand in their accounts at the very beginning. There are four games that are played in four different rounds. Now the names of these rounds are very funny as they are inspired by superstar Rajnikanth, his movies and dialogues. In round one, the participants have to push a very healthy heavy person, whom the show has named “ Darling Click to look into! >> Read More... ” across a set of lines which look like the ones in a road crossing within a time limit.

Now, this may sound like an easy task, but it is not considering the fact that ‘Darling’ weighs somewhere around 150 kilos! The further they push or pull him across the crossing, the more score they get. In the second round, they contestants are constrained with ropes and tied to a wall. There are a series of fruits or vegetables that are lined up in front of them hanging from a rope. They must try and grab the fruits or vegetables only with their mouth. The person, who gets the most of them in a minute’s time, wins the round. In the third round, contestants are given swimsuits to wear, because in this round, the contestants have to collect the stars hanging over a small pond of water.

They can either climb or balance themselves on the poles attached to the tank to get the stars. If they fall in the water in between, they have to start from the starting point again. Whoever gets the maximum numbers of stars in one minutes time, wins the round. In the last and final round, the contestants are made to wear artificial webbed feet. With these on, they have to walk from one point to another where some bananas are submerged in a small water tank. They have to put their heads in the water and pull out one banana at a time with only their mouth.

Then they have to bring it back to the starting point and put in a bowl kept there. The person who gets the maximum bananas in a minute wins the round. Also after each round, the winner of the round gets a gift like electronics items, etc., and gets a chance to celebrate the win with a small dance with Darling. They also get to choose who out of the remaining two contestants, would go first in the toss. A coin is tossed by the host of the show, Pradeep, to decide who would go first in the next round.

Whoever loses the toss goes first, and the winner of the last round goes at the end. Now comes the interesting part of the show. The scores that the contestants receive after the rounds are not added to their accounts, but deducted from their initial balance.
