Hindi Tv Serial Savitri Ek Kranti

Savitri Ek Kranti is a Hindi serial broadcast on the DD Kisan channel which comes under the Doordarshan channel program. This serial shows the story of a woman named Laxmi, fighting for the survival of her unborn child. Her mother-in-law has threatened her that if she gives birth to a girl, that child shall never receive her love or support. The story belongs to the era when people in the village were dependent on the wells for drinking water. People, in an attempt to steal water for themselves, make tunnels in the well to direct the water towards their village. This water is also used for farming. This serial also shows the caste system in India. It was considered a bad omen if the shadow of the lower caste fell on someone of the higher caste. Even the village head is incapable of providing justice to the injustice against the lower caste people. Instead, these people are punished for bringing the problem of water stealing to the head.

They are beaten mercilessly. Laxmi's delivery date has arrived. The mid-wife orders her mother-in-law to fetch water. But the village is suffering from water shortage as people of high caste and the head of village, has directed all the water towards their side of the village. But women bring whatever water is left in their houses to help Laxmi. The men of their village try stealing water back from their wells, but the higher caste people knew they would come. So they set their dogs on them. Laxmi's husband returns from his journey. He is a wise and nobleman. He saves his people who were being chased by dogs. One of the men was his brother, i.e. Laxmi's brother-in-law. And now he's worried about his wife. After much struggle, Laxmi gives birth to baby girl. Her mother-in-law is livid with anger. She forbids the midwife to tell anyone anything.

She tries killing the newborn baby by strangling her neck. Her conscious starts talking and make her realize that it is not that child's mistake for all the misery. But her alter ego starts criticizing her for being a coward. In the end she does try killing the child, but her son arrives at the right moment. Meanwhile, Laxmi's husband is fighting for the injustice against his brother and wife. Laxmi's husband is the head of his people of the lower caste. Now he arranges the naming ceremony of his daughter. Laxmi's mother-in-law refuses to join the ceremony.
