An Assistant Hair Stylist is a person who helps the hair stylist and also does certain small works. They include shampooing& conditioning the hair, providing basic hair cuts, maintaining the ambience of the salon etc.
This job requires good communication skills and a lot of patience. They play a vital role in styling the actors and also does petty work such as helping the actors with their basic requirements. He/ She is said to have an up to date information with regards to the current trend and is expected to have knowledge about various hair styling products, hair care products etc.
They must have the ability to work under pressure and must always pay attention to the little details for it makes a huge difference on screen. He/ She also blow dries hair and at times work as per the particular actor's requirement. Thus, an assistant hair stylist helps the hair stylist in completing her job and at the same time does her own small work.
