She is a Bangladeshi politician, former lawyer, film and television actress, and playwright. His father, a teacher by trade, wished him to focus on formal education. But Ahmed Rubel wanted to be a political activist in his late teens. Later, he got away from politics because of his family's wish and gravitated towards theatre.

Ahmed Rubel began his career in Mohammad Mainuddin Ahmed’s (Selim AI Deen) theatre group “Dhaka Theatre.” After that, he went on to act in the commercial Bengali film industry. He acted in the film “Aakhri Hamla,” and was portrayed the negative role in his subsequent film. Then, he went back to theatre to work in a theatrical drama again, “Bonopanshul.” At this stage, he moved to television dramas by Aatiqul Huq Chowdhury, a director. He got into the limelight in the Ekushey Television show “Pret. Pret,” based on Muhammad Zafar Iqbal’s novel and directed by Aahir Alam. He continued working in the television industry with Mostofa Sarwar Faruqui and others.

Ahmed Rubel portrayed the role of Amin in a 2003 Bengali drama film “Chandrokotha,” written and directed by Humayun Ahmed. He also won the Best Film Actor, Critics Choice Awards at the 6th Meril Prothom Alo Awards for his role in the Chandrokotha film. In 2008, he starred in a Bengali-language British Western film “The Last Thakur,” directed by Sadik Ahmed. In 2014, he acted in two films such as “Jonakir Aalo” and “Parapaar.” In 2021, he starred in two Bengali war-drama films such as Alatchakra: Circle of Desire, directed by Habibur Rahman, and Laal Moroger Jhuti, written and directed by Nurul Alam Atique.

Ahmed Rubel also worked in a few web series such as Noyon Rahasya-Feluda (2017), Bou Diaries (Spotlight) (2021), and Kaiser (2022). In 2022, he appeared in the television show “Zindabahar.” His performance in “Deshantor” earned him lots of love and praise from the audience. In the film, he shared the screen with Moushumi, a renowned actress.
