Born in 1957, Vasudha Joshi is a two times National-Award winning Bengali director. She has been directing to make documentaries for more than two decades now. She has directed numerous mind-blowing short films and movies such as To Catch the Wind, For Mayaand she has also bagged awards for her films, that is, Voices from Baliapal (1989) and Cancer Katha(2012). Vasudha Joshi was detected with cancer in December 2008. Along the time she got herself checked; she was already in stage 2 of cancer. She was sulked and thrown back, knowing she had cancer. That was when she got inspired to direct the short film Cancer Katha. Her main motive through Cancer Katha was to help and inspire all other surviving and struggling through the same deadly disease as hers. In Cancer Katha, she describes fears and dilemmas one has to endure, the world of life and death, through music and songs.
