Purnendu Patri is an Indian poet who worked for the Bengali film industry. He is a multi-talented writer, editor, artist, illustrator, and film director. Patri was born on 2nd February 1931 in Nakol, Howrah, Kolkata. He is the researcher of the history of Kolkata and was particularly known for his poetry collection Kathopokathan in Bengali.
After admitting to Indian Art College in 1949, he started painting and writing to a magazine named Chitrita and Deepali which was edited and co-edited by his uncle. He is the one who started a research paper on Bankim Chandra Chatterjee.
