Don Gummer is a famous sculptor residing in America. His works are very famous including bronze standing works. Don was born on 12 December 1946. His birthplace is Louisville, Kentucky, United States of America. He was brought up in Indiana.

He went to Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis and then Herron School of Art. He went to School of the Museum of Fine Arts (from 1966 to 1970) that is situated in Boston. After that, he went to Yale School of Art. There he received bachelor’s degree in fine arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts (also called BFA) and master’s degree in fine arts, Master of Fine Arts (also called MFA).

He has studied along with David von Schlegell, who is also a sculptor and painter. Before marrying Meryl, Don was married to Peggy Lucas which lasted for a short period.

He married Meryl Streep, and they have four children together. Henry Wolfe, Louisa, Mamie, and Grace. Henry is a musician while Louisa is a model. Mamie and Grace are actors. He started his sculpting career in 1973. His debut solo artwork was featured in the year 1973. Since then, multiple museums and galleries have showcased the works of Don Gummer around Midwest and East Coast.

Primary Compass that stands at the Butler Institute of American Art situated in Youngstown, Ohio is a sculpture made by Don. His fountain/sculpture at the Historic New Harmony located in New Harmony, Indiana is a fine reflection of his intricate work. Southern Circle is another stainless steel and glass sculpture made by Don. The 25 feet tall sculpture is situated in Indianapolis. It weighs 20,000 pounds approximately. It was dedicated and completed in October 2004. In 2006, Primary Separation was completed that is situated in Massachusetts, Museum of Contemporary Art as a permanent installation. His work is mainly contemporary with a rooted constructivism.
