Jemaine Clement is an actor, a comedian, director, writer and multi-instrumentalist. He was born in Masterton, New Zealand on 10 January 1974. His mother, Maori, raised him in Wairarapa region. He did his schooling from Makoura College, Masterton. After completing his graduation, he shifted to Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. In 2000, he received “Special Radio Awards Commendation” for the show The Sunglass Store. In 2004, the duo did a tour in New Zealand in the stage show called The Untold Tales of Maui. The “Humor Beast” won the Billy T. Award, highest comedy honour in New Zealand. In Victoria University, he and his friend Bret McKenzie founded “Flight if the Conchords.” They toured and made four CDs named Folk the World Tour (2002), The Distant Future EP (2007), Flight of the Conchords (2008) and I told you I was Freaky (2009). In 2005, Flight of the Conchords got aired on BBC Radio 2. The duo appeared on Late Show with David Letterman, The Late Late Show, and Late Night with Conan O’Brian. The series is called Flight of the Conchords. The show got renewed for the second season, but it did not continue after that. He debuted in the movie world with a Kung Fu flick called Tongan Ninja. New Zealand’s Jason Stutter directed the film. He did two movies for Jason. One of them is “Predicament.” It is inspired by the novel of Ronald Hugh Morrieson. He did a role in U.S. comedy show named “Gentlemen Broncos”. Jared Hess was the director of it. He won an Independent Spirit Award under category “Best Supporting Male” for this role. In 2008, he was on the Australian Magazine named “ Who Click to look into! >> Read More... ” among 100 Sexiest People. He married Miranda Manasiadis who is a writer and theatre actress. They have a son, Sophocles Miranda Manasiadis.

In 2010, he gave his voice to Jerry, a character from Despicable Me. In the same year, he did a movie named Dinner with the Schmucks. In 2011, he did the voice of Nigel in Rio. In 2012, he appeared in Men in Black 3 as Boris, the animal. He co-wrote, co-directed and appeared in the mockumentary based on Vampires called “What We do in The Shadows.” He revived the role of Nigel in Rio-2. He has also given his voice to international and local commercials.
