Crowley is a highly qualified man graduated from the University College Cork with a Bachelor's degree in English & Philosophy (1990) .He also attained his Master degree in philosophy in 1992. In his student life, when Crowley was getting educated he implicated himself deep into the theaters. This was the time when Crowley realized that engaging himself into theaters could be a recommence to film life & golden way of directing movies. Crowley's play "True Lines " was awarded the 'Stewart Parker' award for being the best new play in 1995.In 1996 Crowley was bestowed with 'Kilkenny Cream of the Ireland Award for arts' for his efforts on double helix. In the early 90s Crowley commenced his play direction, then in 1996 he arrived at West End in London & finally he joined as an associate director at the Donmar Warehouse.

After becoming an associate director Crowley directed "Come & Go" as a piece of the Beckett on film series. Crowley's debut film Intermission was a humorous drama dramatized in Dublin, which was based on a play by MarkO'Rowe. Crowley's list of achievements doesn't end here. "Boy A" helped Crowley to win the best director award in British Academy Television Craft Awards in 2008. Crowley directed the film "Is Anybody There " in 2009.
