He was born on September 7, 1982, in Widnes of Cheshire County in England. He is a receiver of the Lawrence Olivier Award nomination for his mesmerizing role as Smike in the film The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby in the year 2007. The actor attended Fairfield High School and Warrington Collegiate Institute. He later was accepted to RADA on their acting program in 2002. The actor’s first professional involvement after RADA was as an understudy to the legendary American Actor Kevin Spacey.
He has been an active theatre presence as he took part in plays like Aristocrats (Brian Friel), The Duchess of Malfi, The People of the Town, The Vortex, Romeo and Juliet, The Entertainer, Nicholas Nickleby, The Long and the Shirt and the Tail, Luise Miller and many more. He was recently seen in the movie Year of the Rabbit as Joseph Merrick. His other filming involvements include The Secret Agent, Maigret, The Last Kingdom, Peaky Blinders, The Borgias, The Road to the Coronation Street, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, The Secret Diary of Call Girl, The Thick of It and more such projects. He has been a decorated personality when it comes to the cinema industry as in 2008; The Olivier Awards nominated him for the Best Newcomer in a Play category for Nicholas Nickleby where he played Smike. He has also received a nomination for his role in Comedians. He has gained high critical acclaim for his praiseworthy performance in The Road to Coronation Street for his portrayal of Tony Warren in the BBC Four Drama.
