Richard Coyle is an English film and television actor. He was born on February 27, 1972, in Sheffield, England. He started his acting career when a theater director told him that he should pursue his talent after seeing him in a ferry entertaining passenger work. In 1995, he completed Languages and Philosophy at the University of York and later attended Bristol’s well-known Old Vic Theatre and graduated in the year 1998.

He got married to British actress, Georgia Mackenzie, whom he met while filming Up Rising in the year 1999. They got married in the year 2004 and had a daughter, Purdy. They got separated in 2010, and he’s been in a relationship with Ruth Bradley, who is also an actress. Richard started to appear in TV programs like Lorna Doone, Sword of Honour, and Topsy-Turvy. He was also seen as Mr. Coxe on BBC’s Wives and Daughters in 1999. In 2000, he got his breakthrough when he starred as Jeff Murdock in the British sitcom, Coupling. Richard refused to return to the sitcom’s fourth series and even declined to appear in its goodbye episode.

He clarified in an interview that he doesn’t want to be typecast. In 2001, he played as Michael Cassio in the British TV film, Othello. Later, he was starred on BBCs TV drama, Strange and appeared in the British-Irish independent film, Human Traffic (1999). He was also seen in the British-American romantic comedy film, A Good Year (2006) and the British sci-fi film, Franklyn (2008). Richard played the lead role as Moist Von Lipwig in the two-part TV adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s Terry Pratchett’s Going Postal, in 2010. He was also seen in the lead role as an English reporter in Renny Harlin’s 5 Days of War, in 2011. He starred in the British romantic drama film, W.E., which marks Madonna’s directorial debut. In 2012, Richard also appeared in the 2012 British-Irish monster film, Grabbers. He played as Wallace in the British horror film, Outpost: Black Sun and as a drug dealer in the crime thriller film, Pusher. He joined the cast of the USA Network’s Covert Affairs, opposite Piper Perabo.

In the year 2014, Richard portrayed the role of Tom Lowe, who supposed to kill John Malkovich’s character on NBC's Crossbones.
