Steven James Zahn is an American actor, comedian and voice actor. His father used to be a Lutheran pastor, and his mother Zelda Zahn worked for the YMCA. He did his schooling in Minnesota before graduating from Harvard University. He married Robyn Peterman in 1994 and had a son and a daughter named Henry and Audrey.

On 4th May 2007, he was conferred an honorary Ph.D. in Fine Arts from the Northern Kentucky University. He likes fishing too. Zahn started his career in Minnesota when he auditioned for a local stage production of Biloxi Blues. He was very impressive, and thus he landed the lead role. Afterward, he went to Massachusetts where he learned acting skills at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge. Later he moved to the New York City where he won a role for Bye Bye Birdie under the direction of the famous theater director and dancer Tommy Tune and toured for 13 straight months under Tommy Tune’s company. Zahn has been in a lot of movies including the 1995 blockbuster movie Crimson Tide.

(1996) and with the director, Steven Soderbergh, in the movie Out of Sight. This popularity landed him a role in the famous 1999 movie Happy, Texas. For this portrayal he received Best Supporting Male Award in Independent Spirit Awards and his movie won Sundance Film Festival Award. He was featured in many television shows including an episode of the famous 90s sitcom, Friends. He played Clark Edwards in the Mind Games and also has a recurring role on the sitcom Modern Family.

He is generally cast as a comic character having non-impactful sidekick roles. He was nominated for Best Supporting Male in Independent Spirit Award for the 2007 movie Rescue Dawn.
