Diane Lane is an Oscar-nominated American actress, born and raised in New York City. She began her acting career professional at a very tender age. (six years old), at a local club in NY. When she turned 12, she grabbed a role in “The Cherry Orchard”, and at that same time, she was also a student at Hunter College High School. But her grades were never that good; she suffered in academia due to her ever busy schedule. It was in 1981 that Diane made a transition, from being cast as a child actor in more adult roles. She got a role in the film “ Cattle Annie and the Little Britches.” Her breakthrough performance came through the films that were adaptations of the novels by a very well known writer. She has been cast opposite various young male actors who later went on to become the leading men in the coming decade like

Nicolas Cage amongst others. It was Her distinction amidst this heavy male cast that took her career to heights. In Herald Sun Any Warhol loved her work, he also proclaimed her to be the undisputedly marvellous female lead of Hollywood’s new Brat Pack. She later took a break in her acting career . Later when she returned through ‘Lonesome Dove’ for her role, she won a nomination for an Emmy award. Later in 2002 Diane starred in
Unfaithful for which she earned a widespread praise and recognition for her performance and she also won the New York Film Critics Circle Award and Best Actress National Society of Film Critics Award, she also received Golden Globe nominations and Best Actress Academy Award. After "Unfaithful," she also starred in Under the Tuscan Sun, for which she won one more nomination for Best Actress at Golden Globes. In 2011 Diane starred in Cinema Verite, in which for her incredible performance she earned Golden Globe award nominations, Screen Actors Guild, and an Emmy.
In 2012, she was starred in the PBS documentary called Half the Sky, which featured women and girls who were once living under very difficult circumstances bravely fought to challenge ‘em, for she was a victim of oppression herself which she overcame to became one of the Hollywoods best actresses of all time. She also starred in a Superman film titled Man of Steel, playing the role of Martha Kent. In an interview, the movie director said of her casting, "We are thrilled to be having Diane for this role, she can perfectly convey the wonder and wisdom of a lady whose boy has powers beyond what she can imagine."She did reprise her role in the recent sequel Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice. In 2002, before the well known New York Film Critics Circle's vote, she received a tribute for her career by the prestigious Film Society of the famous Lincoln Center. She later went on to win many awards; a nomination for a Golden Globe, the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, an Academy Award for Best Actress and the National Society of Film Critics. She was the ShoWest's 2003’s Female Star of the Year. In 2005, Diane ranked 45, In 2006 she ranked 85, and in 2007 she ranked 98 of the Top 99 Most desirable women on AskMen.com.
