Ika Nord is a renowned actor, mime, and writer. Born in Halmstad Sweden as Ulrika Christina Elisabeth Nord. Ika is famous for her stage acting. She started learning Classic Ballet at the age of six. Since childhood, she loved dancing and started learning it. She learned ballet from her dance teacher Mickan Marika Wigart. After High school, she went to study in France. She studied at Conservatoire National de I’Árt du Mime in Paris. According to her, Paris was a bright and lively city and a complete contrast to Halmstad, the town where she was raised. It was here that she saw her dreams got wings and she saw a hope of transforming her desire to live. Mime, as opposed to dance, had no music. It was a way of communication through gestures and body language. For Ika, mime paved the way to acting. She later went to Matt Mattox Jazz Art Dance School and L’Atelier de Theatre Robert Cordier in Paris.

When she returned back to Sweden she started working for Children TV shows and editorials. Her show ‘Ika box’ was a huge success. ‘Ika I rutan’ released in 1988. Following this, Ika was engaged in stage shows, dance performances and live music. In 1990, she performed in TV series ‘Ikas TV- Kalas’. Nord is still recognized for Children TV shows- Nemo and Benjamin characters. She also taught art lessons to her students. She had faith that ‘Art is a way to escape’. Ika performed in close coordination with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and worked along with the Music in the West. She was heading on to become a multi-talented personality. In 1993, she starred in the family TV series ‘Tomtemaskinen’ written by Lintonskanshed. For her role of Cat findus, she was honored with an Award at the Teves Advent Calender.

Ika has a thirty-year long career devoted to dance, mime, actor, director, TV host and choreographer. She performed in street theatres and plays and also did shows in various European cities. In 2008, Ika featured in the film ‘Let the Right One In’ as Virginia. This horror movie was honored with 72 awards and 42 nominations including one nomination for BAFTA film award. In 2014, Ika performed once again in Halmstad with her stage show ‘The Skeleton is all that remains of us’ aka ‘Balletto Skeletto’. It was of cultural development domain and Ika worked hard for it. She was delighted and determined to perform for it as it was evident during the rehearsals. In 2016, Ika has come up with her direction ‘Himladrumlar’ in the Byteaterns Children’s theater.
