Kathryn Hunter

Kathryn Hunter is an American actress and director born to Greek parents. She and her twin came to the UK when she was 18 months old, and all her education, university, and training were done in the UK. She was drawn towards acting because of the inevitable school plays. Though she never had success in them, she had an actor friend who told her everything about the audition pieces that were fascinating to Hunter thus making her avoid a marriage that was originally planned by her parents and enrolled herself into Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).

Before joining RADA, she trained at Bristol University. At the age of 20, she suffered a big accident from which she came to a conclusion that “disability” whether physical or mental, with “will power” could provide a spark in life that can release various possibilities. She married the co-founder of Complicite Marcello Magni.

She portrayed Cleopatra in Antony & Cleopatra, A Mid Summer Night’s Dream, Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, All or Nothing. In 2008, she was made an Artistic Associate at the Royal Shakespeare Company, and she is also a known associate of RADA where she now directs student’s productions.
