Her paternal grandfather, John Carradine was also an actor. George Plimpton, writer and editor, is a cousin of Martha Plimpton. In 1995, Martha was engaged to Jon Patrick Walker, a stage actor. But unfortunately, they dismissed their engagement later on. In early 1980, she started her career as a model and was featured in the campaign of Calvin Klein; she made the impression of a tomboyish girl. In 1999, she also appeared on NBC in the show ‘ER’, a medical drama; Martha featured in the sixth season of the show playing the role of Meg Corwyn. In 2010, she received Best Actress Award from Whistler Film Festival for her performance in ‘Small Town Murder Songs’.
