In the early 1990s, she began her career as a host. She interviewed celebrities on nationally televised awards shows. Rivers has even hosted several events and was a producer for the channel, E! Network. With her mother, she hosted Fashion interviews on the red carpets for channel E! Cable network, later she got lucrative offers from other TV networks and hosted a show on EI channel! Reports Suggest that she is the highest paid host who charged between $6 and 8 million for her series on the TV channel. In the year 2013, she was the co-creator and producer of Joan's YouTube series ‘In Bed With Joan’, a 15- to 30-minute show.

She also appeared as a host for 'Fashion Police' which is an American television series. It was her mother Joan Rivers who was the host of this show. But after her death, her daughter Melissa Rivers was the new host. This actress loved her mother so much that in the year 1990, she adopted her mother’s stage surname and became known as Melissa Rivers.

Before this, she was popular as Melissa Warburg Rosenburg. She got married to horse trainer John Endicott in December 1998. Later, they got divorced in 2003. Out of this marriage, the couple has a son named Edgar Cooper Endicott. Her son has appeared in a reality show with his mother and grandma ‘Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?’.

She was even dating sports personality Jason Zimmerman since 2008 to 2011, but it ended with a clean break for both the parties. So far, she appeared in TV movies like 'Men in White' and 'Tears and Laughter: The Joan and Melissa Rivers Story.’ She even co-produced 12 episodes for Fashion Police since 2002-2003, and after 2003, she is still the executive producer of this show.
