Sheryl Lee

Born in a creative family, Sheryl had a mother who was an artist and a father who professionally designed buildings. She was born in Bavaria in West Germany but later moved to Colorado, US. She graduated in 1985 from Fairview High School, Colorado. She began to pursue her acting career right after graduation in 1985 when she shifted to Pasadena, CA and attended the renowned American Academy of Dramatic Arts. To make things more professional and polished, she pursued further studies from North Carolina School of the Arts, from the NTC in Denver and finally from the University of Colorado.

To put her knowledge to practice, she moved to Seattle, WA and began gaining experience in stage plays. She started doing roles in movies like Wild at Heart and Jersey Girl in 1990 and 1992 respectively before she got her big break in 1992 from the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me after doing a TV series of the similar name, Twin Peaks, in the 1990s. Both of the latter performances got her international recognition. She was chosen in the nominations for the Saturn Awards for the Best Actress and the Independent Spirit Awards for Best Female Lead for the movie Twin Peaks.

In 1998, she was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor for her role in Vampires, a horror movie. She was nominated for three prestigious awards in 2010 for her role in Winter’s Bone, out of which she won two for Best Performance by an Ensemble: Detroit Film Critics Society and the Gotham Independent Film Awards. The movie also won the best picture award in 2010 at the Sundance Film Festival. She is seen in a special episode of Psych which was related to her big break Twin Peaks in which she was seen with other members of the show too.

In 2014, she acted and produced in the movie The Making of You. Twin Peaks is expected to run again for a limited time in 2017. She is expected to return to grace it along with other cast members. The announcement was made at the Twin Peaks UK Festival in 2015. She has given her voice for characters of video games like BioShock: 2. She has also been very actively seen in TV shows like CSI: NY, Psych, State of Mind, One Tree Hill, Desperate Housewives and much more. She has a son named Elijah from her marriage with the photographer, Jesse Diamond and also dated her Twin Peaks cast-mate, David Duchovny.

She suffers from a blood disorder that is considered rarely called neutropenia. She is famous for her charitable influence and active participation in all major issues, ranging from animal cruelty to woman issues to breast cancer, biodiversity protection and so on. She is an active member of PETA that works against cruelty to animals. She has been seen actively participating in all goodwill campaigns since 2000.
